Its a busy spring!
We are having a very busy spring, friends! We are booking sales into July and moving fast through May and June. There are some fun surprises in store, including midcentury treasures, a woodworking shop, homemade furniture (again!), pop-ups, and more! I am tired just thinking about it...
Estate sales are quite involved, and several people have asked me how we prepare for them. The truth is, we do a lot. An estate or moving sale isn't the same as a regular yard sale. First, we don't typically move anything from the house unless necessary. We start by cleaning and staging the house, meaning we clear out cupboards, cabinets, and closets, then gather similar items to make shopping easier. This also gives the client and their family time to remove any remaining belongings that were tucked away that they want to keep. Once that's done, we photograph everything, sometimes multiple times! Then, we price every item. While we have standard prices, we aim to set a specific price for each item to help customers shop more easily and reduce questions about pricing - a lesson I learned early! After the sale, we help the client decide what to do with leftover items. Options include holding onto them for consignment sales, buying them outright, or donating as much as possible. Our main goal is to minimize waste and keep items out of landfills, though disposal is sometimes unavoidable.
Our team is growing and always looking for more folks to join us. Let's face it, summer is the busy time for sales, but also for vacations, personal obligations, weddings, etc. If you are ever interested in working at a sale, reach out to me (not at a sale, I will lose your number!) via email, text, or the form on our website, and I will be very happy to chat with you!
See you at one of our upcoming sales!
