Mahogany everywhere!

Hello friends! Our upcoming sale is about to begin, and it’s unlike any sale we’ve held before! The homeowner was a collector, traveler, and designer, and this is evident in his stunning home. Originally from the Netherlands, he has many beautiful pieces from Europe that belonged to his family. He traveled often to Africa, especially Kenya, and lovingly restored and designed both his home and gardens. In its prime, the house was truly beautiful.

His loved ones have told me a lot about his life and his love for design. When he traveled to Kenya, he fell in love with the island of Lamu, off the coast of Kenya, and began working with local artists to design furniture from mahogany grown on the island. This furniture is massive, heavy, and gorgeous. The photos I took do not do the pieces justice. They are hand-carved, with the grain of each piece visible, and you can tell the artisans and designers took great care with each piece.

The tables each have a unique shape: low, long, and squat coffee tables that you can also sit on the floor and eat at. Tall, lanky console tables fit behind various pieces of furniture or can dress up a hallway or empty space. Beautiful, carved benches and side tables add charm. And the longest dining tables I've ever seen!

Additionally, there are some really beautiful African masks, carved figures, alabaster and shell, knives and swords, and textiles.

Here is the complete link to the sale. See you soon!
